A small shelter doing big things...

We’re passionate about two things at Get Wagging: dogs looking fashionable and helping dogs in need, with emphasis on the latter! We donate all our used collars and leashes to rescues and shelters through the United States. We’re very passionate about this and we recently had the pleasure of making an in-person donation to PAWS Shelter of Central Texas.

PAWS is located in Kyle, Texas, just outside of Austin. Their slogan is, “A small shelter doing big things.” which is so very true! They hold off-site adoptions, visit local schools to educate on responsible pet ownership, and spay/neuter every animal who comes through their doors to help prevent overpopulation. They’re even in the process of expanding to open a new shelter in Dripping Springs, Texas. Doing big things indeed!

One of the things we were most impressed with was their cell dog program. Dogs are carefully chosen and paired with an inmate at the Kyle Corrections Center. After classroom training handlers are charged with the 24/7 care of their dog for the next six weeks with semi-weekly training sessions with a professional trainer. It’s a win/win for both the dog and the handler! To sponsor a dog or donate to their cell dog program click here!

PAWS currently has 300 active volunteers and fosters and are always in need of more. We’re even planning on fostering a dog here at the Get Wagging headquarters! Stay tuned to our Instagram for updates and photos! Click here for more information on how to volunteer.

There’s a blurb on their website that resonated with us: “We envision a time when our Central Texas Community celebrates the human-animal bond, pet overpopulation is solved, permanent homes for all adoptable animals are ensured, and all animal suffering ends.” We strive for that too and are glad our collars and leashes can help with that vision.
